The ever-evolving connectivity of IT devices, sensors, vehicles, buildings, factories, and other systems is a major challenge, but also creates huge potential for our digital future. Advances in robotics and sensor technology are driving the increase of efficiency and productivity in different industries which benefit from the connection among billions of devices - By 2020, the Internet of Things (IoT) is expected to connect 50 billion smart objects to the network thereby enabling world where the real, digital and the virtual are converging to create smart environments that make energy, transport, cities and many other areas more intelligent. But how does it exactly work and benefit your organization? How is it implemented? What are the advantages and disadvantages of an IoT service or product platform?

This training focuses on the fundamental core technologies and concepts of the Internet of Things in order to address those questions.

The goal of this workshop is to give an introduction to the world of the Internet of Things and teach the basic concepts of the IoT ecosystem and presents application examples as well as business models. Participants will become familiar with the IoT fundamentals by gaining an understanding of the Internet of Things strategies and the practical aspects of taking an IoT solution from ideation to adoption. Moreover, participants will identify customer-centric IoT business opportunities and create an IoT project of your own concept and get exclusive insights into how to manage adoption through a real-world corporate business case.

This one-day online workshop provides a fast paced deep dive into the Internet of Things and is designed for business executives, managers and employees who want to understand what the Internet of Things is and the potential impacts it can have on their organization.

Prerequisites to the course (recommended)

  •          A basic understanding of computer science is recommended.

Methods used: Lecture with slides and further material, discussion and practical analysis in collaboration with the participants. Strategy design and evaluation.

Length: 8 academic hours

The prerequisite for issuing the certificate is full participation in training.

Benjamin Leiding holds a PhD in computer science, works as a researcher at the University of Göttingen and published dozens of research papers in peer reviewed conferences and co-organized workshops on blockchain technology. Moreover, he is the CEO and founder of Chaindrium, a research focused IT consulting company. Besides Chaindrium, he is involved in several other StartUps either as a Co-Founder, adviser, researcher or Chief Scientist.
