Practical Project Management Training - Basic Level

How to start and lead smaller and larger projects to a successful outcome?

Practical Project Management Training - Basic Level

Kestus:

8 academic hours

Project management is an everyday part of our lives, regardless of what we do. Whether it's launching a campaign, organising a conference or summer event, developing a new product or software solution – or even, on a personal level, implementing a new habit – our lives consist of many small projects that must be completed with the resources available and within set deadlines. We’ve all likely experienced situations where “we meant well, but it turned out the same as always.”

So how do we plan and manage projects in a way that everything runs smoothly – avoiding constant “firefighting” and allowing us to enjoy the laurels of success at the end?

This project management training is designed to provide foundational knowledge and a practical toolkit for anyone looking to confidently initiate and manage new projects.

Course Overview:

The project management training provides clarity on what a project is, how to set its objectives, and how to plan activities. It covers how to implement plans so that everything gets done within the given timeframe and using the available resources. The course also addresses common project issues, how to prevent them, and how to summarise a project effectively.

Target Audience: This training is intended for anyone who needs project management skills in their professional or personal life and who wants to carry out projects more confidently, efficiently, and effectively with less stress.

Recommended prerequisites: No prior (conscious) project management experience is required to participate in the course.

As a result of the training, participants will:

  • understand what a project is, recognize its various types, and provide examples;
  • be able to create a project brief according to the SMART method;
  • Know how to prepare a project activity and time plan, determine the critical path, and use the Gantt Chart tool;
  • understand the basics of team, time, and resource management;
  • be aware the most common problems in project management and how to avoid them;
  • be able to conduct a simple risk analysis and mitigate risks.

Methodology:

The course includes lectures with numerous practical examples, discussions, group work, and individual tasks. At the end of the training, there will be a quick test to consolidate the knowledge.

Note: Please bring your own laptop to the training. If this is not possible, please contact us by email at [email protected] (no later than 3 working days before the start of the training).

Duration: 8 academic hours
